What Nevada Radiology Billing Has to Account For

Four regulatory realities shape every Nevada radiology claim, from the Medicare jurisdiction you bill to the Medicaid lineup that just expanded statewide.

Jurisdiction E Medicare Rules

Noridian Healthcare Solutions administers Medicare Part A and B claims for Jurisdiction E, which also covers California, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. Coverage determinations are set jurisdiction-wide, so a denial pattern in California can show up in Las Vegas just as easily. We track Noridian’s specific LCDs and bulletins so Nevada claims match the standard actually enforced.

Medicaid's First Statewide Expansion

Nevada’s Medicaid managed care program has long served only Clark and Washoe counties, but new contracts effective January 1, 2026 extend coverage into every county. Health Plan of Nevada, Community Care Health Plan of Nevada, SilverSummit Healthplan, Molina Healthcare, and newcomer CareSource will all carry rural members for the first time. A claim’s plan assignment now depends on this five-plan lineup.

A Compact State Since 2015

Nevada joined the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact in 2015, so an out-of-state radiologist can get a Nevada license faster than in a non-compact state. Faster isn’t instant, though: the compact still requires a separate license and payer enrollment before claims can be billed under that radiologist’s NPI, so credentialing timelines still need to be built into coverage planning.

30/30-Day Prompt Pay Rule

Under NRS 683A.0879, an administrator must approve or deny a claim within 30 days of receiving it, then pay an approved claim within 30 more days. Miss that window and interest accrues at the prime rate at Nevada’s largest bank plus 6 percent until payment clears. We build Nevada claims clean on the first pass so they clear inside that window instead of accruing interest against it.

Complete Radiology Revenue Cycle Management

Certified CIRCC and CPC coders handle every CPT code, modifier, and global billing rule specific to diagnostic and interventional radiology — maximizing reimbursement on every encounter across all modalities and payer types.

Where Nevada Radiology Billing Breaks Down

A Medicaid lineup expanding into counties it’s never covered, compact licensing that still needs follow-through, and a tight northern Nevada payer market all add friction most billing teams aren’t built to absorb.

Before RBS

Claims still routed to a Medicaid plan that lost its county

Jurisdiction E denials reworked from scratch every single time

Compact licensing mistaken for coverage, stalling new claims

Rural hospital partners absorbing avoidable denials

Clean claims quietly missing the state's 30/30-day deadline

After RBS

Eligibility rebuilt around the current five-plan Medicaid lineup

Jurisdiction E appeals built on tracked Noridian coverage patterns

Compact licensing and payer enrollment tracked as two separate steps

Rural hospital partners billing on margins that hold up

Every clean claim timestamped and chased before its deadline passes

Precision RCM & Coding Built for Radiology

Generic billing is the fastest way to a denied radiology claim. RBS delivers specialty-specific revenue integrity built for imaging’s TC/PC splits and modifier rules, so you capture every dollar you’re owed.

Built for Northern Nevada's Dominant Local Payer

Hometown Health, Renown Health’s insurance division, is Northern Nevada’s largest locally owned, not-for-profit insurer and one of the largest health plans in the state. A practice that can’t bill cleanly against Hometown Health is exposed on a large share of its Reno-area commercial volume, where national-carrier habits don’t always carry over. We build every claim to clear its specific requirements the first time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Medicare Administrative Contractor handles Nevada radiology claims?

Noridian Healthcare Solutions administers Medicare Part A and B claims for Jurisdiction E, which covers Nevada along with California, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. We track Noridian’s specific billing bulletins rather than generic national Medicare guidance.
Five managed care plans hold contracts effective January 1, 2026: Health Plan of Nevada, Community Care Health Plan of Nevada, SilverSummit Healthplan, Molina Healthcare, and newcomer CareSource. For the first time, coverage extends beyond Clark and Washoe counties into every county in the state.
No. Nevada joined the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact in 2015, which speeds up getting a Nevada medical license, but an out-of-state radiologist still needs that license and separate payer enrollment before claims can be billed under their NPI.
Nevada Rural Hospital Partners represents 13 critical access hospitals covering a service area roughly the size of New England. That network depends on clean, accurately paid radiology claims, with very little room for denials or slow appeals to go unchallenged.
Yes. Hometown Health, Renown Health’s insurance arm, is Northern Nevada’s largest not-for-profit insurer, so a large share of our Reno-area clients’ commercial claims run through it. We build claims to its specific requirements rather than treating it as a generic commercial payer.
