RadiologyBillingSolutions is our top pick for radiology billing services in New York in 2026. It works only in radiology, and it’s set up for the split that catches many New York practices off guard: Anthem (the plan formerly known as Empire BlueCross BlueShield) sends imaging approvals to Carelon, while Fidelis Care sends its approvals to Evolent. Zotec Partners and Ventra Health are the other radiology-heavy names here, and AnnexMed, CureMD and PracticeMax all have a presence in New York. The rest are broader billing companies that treat radiology as one specialty among several.
New York Medicare claims go through Jurisdiction K, run by National Government Services. The same contractor covers Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, and it publishes its own Local Coverage Determinations, the rules that spell out when Medicare will pay for a given scan.
Medicaid is more crowded here than in most states. The state Department of Health lists more than a dozen managed care plans, from statewide names like Fidelis Care and Healthfirst to MetroPlus in New York City and HIV-focused plans like Amida Care, spread across six regions from Long Island to Western New York. We looked at 12 radiology billing companies working in or near New York and judged them on how well they’re set up for that mix.
New York asks a billing team to keep a lot of moving parts straight. A single imaging center might bill Anthem, Fidelis Care, Healthfirst and MetroPlus in the same week, and the company that approves the scan isn’t always the insurer. Radiology Billing Solutions is built for that. It handles radiology and nothing else, so every coder on the team spends the day on imaging claims. Before a CT or MRI goes out, the team confirms which plan the patient has, whether that plan routes imaging to Carelon or Evolent, and whether the code still needs approval at all. That last check matters in New York right now, because Fidelis Care stopped requiring approval for chest CT and low-dose lung screening CT in June 2025, and a team working from an old list will keep chasing approvals it doesn’t need.
| In Business Since | Established radiology-focused billing provider serving practices nationwide |
| What They Handle | Radiology coding and charge entry, prior authorization, denial management and appeals, New York Medicaid plan routing, A/R follow-up, ACR and IAC accreditation paperwork |
| Track Record | 99% first-pass claim rate, 25-day average A/R cycle, 32% average denial reduction, 8-13% average revenue growth |
| Who They Work With | Independent imaging centers, hospital radiology departments, interventional radiology groups |
| How They Charge | Flat percentage of collections, scoped to claim volume and complexity |
Take: Most New York imaging denials that get fought for months were avoidable: an approval requested from the wrong company, a code that no longer needed approval, or an appeal mailed to Anthem when Carelon made the call. RadiologyBillingSolutions catches those problems before a claim is filed, and for a practice juggling several Medicaid plans plus Medicare, that adds up fast. It’s the same team behind our radiology billing services in New York.
Zotec Partners was founded in 1998 in Carmel, Indiana, and focuses on hospital-based specialties, radiology included. In 2013 it signed an exclusive billing partnership with RadNet, the imaging-center operator whose core markets include New York.
| In Business Since | 1998 |
| What They Handle | Revenue cycle and practice management for hospital-based specialties, including radiology |
| Who They Work With | Hospitals, health systems, radiology groups and imaging center operators |
Take: Zotec is built for large groups and imaging chains. A single independent New York center may find the model bigger than it needs.
Ventra Health formed in 2021 from the merger of several revenue cycle companies and is based in Dallas. Its radiology work comes from Advocate RCM, a radiology billing firm founded in 1998 that joined Ventra in January 2024 and has billed for New York City practices such as Main Street Radiology.
| In Business Since | 2021 (its radiology division, Advocate RCM, dates to 1998) |
| What They Handle | Radiology billing and coding, MIPS quality reporting, managed care negotiation and payment dispute resolution |
| Who They Work With | Facility-based physicians in radiology, anesthesia, emergency medicine and hospital medicine, plus hospitals and health systems |
Take: Ventra is built around hospital-based specialties. An independent imaging center should ask how the Advocate radiology team fits inside the larger company.
AnnexMed has been doing revenue cycle work since 2004. It’s headquartered in Salt Lake City, keeps an office in New York, and runs a radiology billing service for imaging centers.
| In Business Since | 2004 |
| What They Handle | Medical billing and coding, A/R follow-up, denial management, benefits checks, prior authorization and credentialing |
| Who They Work With | Physician practices, imaging centers and hospitals |
Take: A New York office is a plus, but AnnexMed bills for many specialties. Ask how much of its local team works on imaging claims.
CureMD has been based in New York City since 1997. It’s mainly a software company that sells electronic health records and practice management tools, with billing services offered on top of that platform.
| In Business Since | 1997 |
| What They Handle | Medical billing services alongside its own EHR, practice management and patient portal software |
| Who They Work With | Medical practices of all sizes |
Take: A Manhattan address doesn’t make CureMD a radiology specialist. It suits practices ready to move onto its software; if you plan to keep your current system, ask how billing works without it.
PracticeMax has been in business since 1984 and is based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Its own announcements have listed New York among its regional offices, and it pairs billing services with its own practice management and EHR software.
| In Business Since | 1984 |
| What They Handle | Coding, claims management and follow-up, practice management and EHR software, compliance programs and consulting |
| Who They Work With | Hospital and office-based physician groups, outpatient centers and health systems |
Take: PracticeMax bills for dozens of specialties, so radiology is one service line among many. Ask whether its New York team works imaging claims.
Coronis Health was formed in 2015 and is based in Sykesville, Maryland. Its dedicated radiology team handles diagnostic and interventional coding, revenue audits, and follow-up on unpaid or underpaid claims.
| In Business Since | 2015 |
| What They Handle | Radiology coding, revenue audits, A/R follow-up and underpayment recovery, plus patient access and credentialing |
| Who They Work With | Radiology groups, hospitals, physician practices, labs and behavioral health centers |
Take: Coronis has a real radiology team. Its New York-specific experience is the thing to pin down before you sign.
Practolytics has offered billing and practice consulting since 2000 from Columbia, South Carolina. Its radiology page covers interventional radiology and teleradiology, and its service is bundled with AdvancedMD software.
| In Business Since | 2000 |
| What They Handle | Billing and coding, credentialing, eligibility checks, prior authorization and compliance audits |
| Who They Work With | Solo doctors, group and multi-location practices, and medical equipment suppliers |
Take: Practolytics works across many states. A New York practice should ask which local plans its team bills most often, and how its AdvancedMD setup would fit an existing system.
MBW RCM began as Medical Billing Wholesalers and has been in the billing business since at least 2010. It runs delivery centers in India and the Philippines and mostly works with larger organizations, including multi-specialty groups and management services organizations.
| In Business Since | Since at least 2010 (founded as Medical Billing Wholesalers) |
| What They Handle | Patient access, eligibility checks and prior authorization, coding, claims, payment posting, A/R follow-up and denial management |
| Who They Work With | Multi-specialty practices, management services organizations, billing companies and health systems |
Take: MBW is set up for larger, more complex organizations. A small New York imaging center may not be its typical client.
Medical Billers and Coders was founded in 1999 and is based in Wilmington, Delaware. It describes itself as a nationwide network of billers and coders rather than one in-house team, and it lists radiology among dozens of specialties.
| In Business Since | 1999 |
| What They Handle | Medical billing and coding, credentialing, denial management, A/R follow-up, payment posting and eligibility checks |
| Who They Work With | Physician practices across the U.S. in dozens of specialties |
Take: Radiology is one of dozens of specialties at MBC, and with a network model, the people working your account can change.
iMagnum Healthcare started in 2017 and runs its U.S. operations from Katy, Texas, with offices in Atlanta and Baltimore. Radiology is listed on its specialty page alongside the other services it bills for.
| In Business Since | 2017 |
| What They Handle | Billing and coding, denial management, payment processing, credentialing and clinical documentation |
| Who They Work With | Large provider groups, acute care hospitals and rural hospitals |
Take: iMagnum’s client mix leans toward hospitals, and radiology sits on its specialty list rather than at the center of the business.
GenMediTech was founded in 2025 and is based in Westwood, New Jersey, just outside New York City. It offers a full menu of billing services and lists radiology among the specialties it bills for.
| In Business Since | 2025 |
| What They Handle | Billing and coding, credentialing, eligibility checks, prior authorization, payment posting, denial management and A/R follow-up |
| Who They Work With | Physician practices, specialty clinics and outpatient facilities |
Take: GenMediTech is the newest company on this list. Its location is convenient, but with a short track record, ask for references from radiology practices.
Many insurers don't decide imaging requests themselves. They hire outside companies, called radiology benefit managers, to review requests for scans like CT, MRI and PET. In New York, two of the biggest plans use two different ones.
Anthem, which replaced the Empire BlueCross BlueShield name in New York on January 1, 2024, sends advanced imaging requests for its commercial and Medicare Advantage members to Carelon Medical Benefits Management, formerly called AIM Specialty Health. Its Medicaid plan moved breast MRI reviews to Carelon in August 2023. Fidelis Care uses Evolent, formerly National Imaging Associates, for outpatient imaging across its Medicaid, Medicare and marketplace plans, a switch it made from eviCore in October 2021.
Between the rebrands, one scan can generate paperwork with four different company names on it. The denial letter tells you who actually made the decision, and that's who the appeal has to go to. RadiologyBillingSolutions checks the reviewer on every New York denial before it writes the appeal.
National Government Services runs Jurisdiction K for New York and six New England states. Its Local Coverage Determinations set out what documentation Medicare expects before it pays for a scan, and a team used to another contractor’s rules shouldn’t assume the same notes will hold up here.
New York’s Medicaid managed care program spans six regions: Long Island, New York City, the Hudson Valley, the Northeast, Central New York and Western New York. Plans don’t all serve every county, so a practice near a regional line can see patients from plans it rarely deals with. Since April 1, 2023, prescriptions for these members have run through the state’s NYRx pharmacy program instead of the plans, but the plans still handle imaging claims and approvals.
Fidelis Care stopped requiring prior authorization on June 27, 2025 for chest CT (CPT 71250), low-dose CT for lung cancer screening (71271) and transthoracic echocardiography (93307). In November 2025, it also told providers that some couldn’t get approvals through Evolent’s RadMD portal because their NPI or tax ID wasn’t showing in the system, and pointed them to Evolent’s call center instead. A billing team needs to catch changes like these as they happen, not months later.
A federal rule that took effect January 1, 2026 also requires Medicare Advantage plans, Medicaid managed care plans and ACA marketplace plans to decide standard prior authorization requests within seven calendar days and urgent ones within 72 hours, and to give a specific reason when they deny one. That’s useful leverage when a New York imaging request sits too long.
Bottom Line: New York’s payer environment leaves little room for a generalist approach; more than a dozen Medicaid plans across six regions, two major insurers that route imaging approvals to two different outside reviewers, and plan names that changed as recently as 2024. RadiologyBillingSolutions is structured specifically for this complexity: a radiology-exclusive service model where every coder, workflow, and New York payer rule update is dedicated to a single discipline. That focus is reflected in verifiable outcomes, including a 99% first-pass claim rate and a 25-day average A/R cycle, figures most competitors in this market do not publish. For practices evaluating radiology billing services in New York, RadiologyBillingSolutions offers the clearest combination of specialization and documented performance on this list.
