What Makes Utah Radiology Billing Different

Four regulatory layers shape every claim we file for Utah radiology practices.

Jurisdiction F Medicare Rules

Noridian Healthcare Solutions processes Medicare Part A and B claims for Jurisdiction F, covering Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Arizona, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Noridian was re-awarded the contract in August 2025, effective that September. We track Noridian’s specific bulletins so Utah claims match the standard actually enforced across all ten states.

Five ACOs, One County-Limited Carve-Out

Utah Medicaid runs managed care through competing ACOs, including Healthy U, Molina Healthcare of Utah, SelectHealth Community Care, and Health Choice Utah, each covering the state differently. A separate integrated plan, UMIC, combines physical and behavioral health but operates only in Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, and Washington counties. New federal community engagement requirements take effect January 1, 2027.

A 2015 Compact Founding State

Utah enacted the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact in 2015, among the founding states that brought the system online. That speeds up getting a Utah license for a physician already licensed elsewhere, but a separate payer enrollment is still required before claims can be billed under that radiologist’s NPI, a step large multi-state groups often miss.

30-Day Prompt Pay, Legal-Rate Interest

Under Utah Code 31A-26-301 and Administrative Rule R590-190-9, insurers must deliver or mail payment on a clean claim within 30 days of receiving proof of loss. Carriers that miss the deadline owe interest at Utah’s legal rate of 10 percent per annum under Title 15. We build Utah claims clean on the first pass so they clear inside that window.

Complete Radiology Revenue Cycle Management

Certified CIRCC and CPC coders handle every CPT code, modifier, and global billing rule specific to diagnostic and interventional radiology — maximizing reimbursement on every encounter across all modalities and payer types.

Where Utah Radiology Billing Breaks Down

A ten-state Medicare jurisdiction, a Medicaid program split across five ACOs and a county-limited carve-out, and a 30-day prompt pay deadline all add friction most billing teams aren’t built to absorb.

Before RBS

Medicaid claims denied for the wrong ACO or carve-out plan

Jurisdiction F denials reworked from scratch every time

Compact licensing mistaken for payer enrollment

Clean claims slipping past the 30-day deadline

Legal-rate interest penalties absorbed instead of collected

After RBS

Medicaid claims matched to the correct ACO or carve-out plan

Jurisdiction F appeals built on tracked Noridian bulletins

Licensure and payer enrollment tracked as two separate steps

Every clean claim timestamped against the 30-day deadline

Legal-rate interest tracked and collected, not written off

Precision RCM & Coding Built for Radiology

Generic billing is the fastest way to a denied radiology claim. RBS delivers specialty-specific revenue integrity built for imaging’s TC/PC splits and modifier rules, so you capture every dollar you’re owed.

Built for Utah's Dominant Private Payer

SelectHealth, the insurance arm of Intermountain Health, holds roughly 38 percent of Utah’s comprehensive health insurance market, more than any other carrier. Intermountain itself just agreed to a $1.15 billion deal to take majority ownership of an Idaho hospital network, extending its reach beyond Utah’s borders. A practice that can’t bill cleanly against SelectHealth is exposed on a large share of its commercial volume.
